Faithful to the great Sienese pictorial tradition
of the early fourteenth century, he drew his inspiration chiefly from \b \cf4 \ATXht1044 Simone Martini\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 and the \b \cf4 \ATXht1042 Lorenzetti\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 in his prolific output of panels. But he was also active in Liguria, Perugia
and Pisa, where he came under the influence of contemporary painters like Barnaba da Modena and Gentile da Fabriano. His most important works are the huge frescoes in Pisa (church of San Francesco) and in the Palazzo Pubblico of Siena.
